How We Started

I spent nine years as a union carpenter in New York City. Built things. Fixed things. Understood what solid work looked like. Then the pandemic hit hard, and I had to make a choice: stay put or start over. We moved to Pennsylvania for the land, the quiet, and a second chance.

After settling in, I got absorbed into tree work almost by accident. Spent years working for other companies, learning the trade, hitting the limits of how things were done. Removal was the easy button, the profitable move. Most contractors I worked for pushed trees down because that's what paid. But I kept noticing: homeowners didn't really want their trees gone. They wanted solutions. They wanted someone to tell them the truth.

That gap between what people asked for and what they actually needed became the whole reason we started this company.

What We've Learned

Pruning and weight reduction save trees other companies would fell without hesitation. A homeowner came to us wanting their mature oak removed because it was 'too big.' Forty-five minutes of conversation and assessment later, we developed a three-year pruning plan instead. Two years in, they told us it was the best decision they'd made. That tree now frames their entire yard differently.

Education changes the outcome. Most people don't understand what their trees need because no one takes the time to explain it. We've learned that five minutes of real conversation prevents bad decisions and builds trust. When we walk a property, we're not building a removal estimate. We're diagnosing what the tree actually needs and what the homeowner actually wants.

Sustainable business means sustainable people. I started this company because I needed it to work for me and for the people doing the work. That means we don't chase every dollar through unnecessary removals. We do honest work, price it fairly, and build relationships that last years, not just one job.
